BlueLink.info is supported financially by the BlueLink Foundation as par its non-for profit mission. BlueLink’s journalistic work is covered by projects, funded by various donors and partners.
BlueLink.info was launched in the summer of 2016 as the English language version of Evromegdan.bg as part of the Balkan Watchdogs project, co-funded by the BlueLink Foundation and the The Green European Foundation (GEF) – a European level political foundation funded by the European Parliament, linked to, but independent of, other European Green actors such as the European Green Party and the Green Group in the European Parliament.
The BlueLink.info newsroom is enhanced and expanded regionally during 2016 – 2018 as part of the BlueLink Newsroom Project, implemented the BlueLink Foundation and the Heinrich Boell Foundation of Brandenburg, with the financial support of the Heinrich Böll Foundation and Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt DBU (German Federal Environmental Foundation).
DBU is one of Europe’s largest foundations and promotes innovative and exemplary environmental projects. The DBU was established in 1990, subject to a law passed by the German Parliament on initiative of the then Finance Minister Dr. Theo Waigel: to use the amount of € 1.3 billion from privatising the former steel group Salzgitter AG for an environmental foundation. The income from its assets is used for the promotional activities.
